Colin is the founder and Managing Director of SUBC Engineering.
Colin moved to Aberdeen in 1980 after serving an engineering apprenticeship with Eaton Transmissions. He joined NL Shaffer as a service engineer working both in the North Sea and worldwide on Shaffer BOP & Rucker Motion Compensation equipment. During this period Colin spent two years based in Norway as Sales/Service Engineer.
From 1984 to 1997, Colin worked as a Subsea Engineer, initially with Dolphin Drilling, Global Marine Drilling and then C-MAR Group. He joined C-MAR Group in 1995, where he progressed to Subsea Manager. He became a Director in 1998 after setting up the company’s subsea division and building a team of over 50 Subsea Engineers.
Colin attended Robert Gordon University and in 2005, he graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in Management. Colin also holds an HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
Alison has worked as Operations Manager with SUBC since company inception. Her main responsibilities include operational support for Aberdeen and Singapore including logistics, HR and the day to day running of the office.
Alison has worked in the oil and gas industry for over 14 years. During this time she has been involved with logistical and support work for offshore Chemists, Medics and Subsea Engineers, both in the UK and overseas. She started her career at Intertek as a Laboratory Administration Assistant, where she was working for nearly 5 years. Then she spent nearly 8 years with C-MAR, working in positions ranging from Logistics Co-ordinator to Operations Manager.
Alison has also completed a BA (Hons) degree in Business Management at Robert Gordon University. In addition, she is a member of the CIPD.
Garry is a well established member of the SUBC Engineering Offshore team. In addition Garry has many strings to his bow which has allowed him to become a key member of the Training Department carrying out all our Hydraulic and Accumulator courses, in addition Garry can also deliver our Surface Well Control courses both Classroom and Hands-On. .
Garry has over 20 years engineering experience gained by a long and successful career with the Royal Air Force as an Aircraft Engineer. During this time, he was fortunate to be selected for Instructor Duties at Royal Air Force Cosford, in the West Midlands, which is their key training facility for new and experienced engineers. He built on this training role after leaving the Royal Air Force by graduating with a PGCE achieving Qualified Teacher Status, teaching full time in local schools. Joining SUBC as an Engineer, Garry has once again expanded his knowledge which he now puts to good use, becoming one of our key contributors to the delivery of our Accredited Industrial Training courses.
Derek Worthington accepted the position as Subsea Superintendent at SUBC USA, LLC in September 2015. Derek accepted a new title as Vice President Inspection and Verification at the end of 2017. In the current role, he is responsible for 3rd Party Inspeciton and Verification Division.
Derek has lived in Texas the majority of his life, and currently resides in Houston, TX. After graduating with a BS from Texas A&M University, Derek moved to Monahans, TX to work for Torqued Up Oilfield Services as a field service supervisor. In 2005, Derek moved to Houston, TX for Pride International and began his offshore career as a subsea engineer. Derek has worked for several deepwater drilling contractors and third party service companies over the years. In 2011, he joined Lloyd’s Register Drilling Integrity Services as a senior surveyor responsible with conducting compliance and verification surveys on well control equipment for oil and gas companies as well as drilling contractors. Derek has since joined SUBC as a Superintendent working both onshore and offshore roles to help expand SUBC USA’s footprint for 3rd Party BOP Verification and Compliance services with oil and gas operators domestically and globally.
Sandy has been working for SUBC Engineering for the past 6 years as an advisor to the company. His wealth of knowledge has allowed SUBC to make strategic and critical decisions regarding the expansion and development of the company. Sandy has worked on many projects for SUBC in particular the development of the Managed Pressure Drilling system for Seadrill.

23 years offshore as a senior Subsea Engineer prior to being shore based as a Subsea Manager
Paul Potter joins SUBC as a Project/Training Manager, he is responsible for subsea projects, and he is also in charge of SUBC training department.
Paul has 34 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, working mainly in the downstream drilling sector, but with significant working connections with major oil companies having performed work in the upstream sector of the industry. Prior to joining the oil and gas industry, Paul served 16 years in the British Royal Navy in the engineering branch, 13 years of which were in the submarine service, serving on all classes of submarines, both conventional and nuclear.
Between 1982 and 2006, Paul studied at a number of universities in the UK and holds BSc, MSc and a doctorate in Riserless Drilling. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Society for Underwater Technology and is both a Chartered Engineer and a Marine Chartered Engineer, registered with the British Engineering Council. He is also a Registered Subsea Engineer. Paul is a full member of the Institute of Marine Engineers, Scientists and Technologists in London.
Tyler is the President of SUBC USA, LLC
Tyler has lived in Houston, TX for the majority of his life. Tyler moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma after graduating with a BA from Texas A&M University for an Open Hole Logging Field Supervisor position at Tucker Energy Services. Tyler returned to Houston in 2007 to work for a private startup company called BOP Stacking Inc., which concentrated on Deepwater drilling equipment such as BOP Stack Frame Manufacturing and Assembly services. BOP Stacking Inc. was sold in 2008 to Scana Industrier ASA, a Norwegian Public company, and Scana Industries ASA created the Houston based company, Scana Offshore Services. Tyler served as the Finance Manager from 2008 - 2010 for Scana Offshore Services. He became the Managing Director from 2011 - Q1 2015 and built the company up from 15 to 50 employees during this time while increasing the sales and client base significantly throughout this period.
David accepted the position as Vice President at SUBC USA, LLC in November 2014. In the current role he will play an integral part in the expansion and development of SUBC's global footprint in the USA
David lived all over the world during his youth but settled in Houston, TX for the majority of his adult life. He began his career learning the fundamentals of small business before owning and operating an array of small businesses from 2005 - 2009.He joined Scana Offshore Services as an outside salesman from 2010 - 2014 covering the Gulf of Mexico and all International territories worldwide. During his tenure, David played a key role in doubling Scana Offshore Services annual contract sales volume while expanding the client list in parallel.
Gabe is the Senior Vice President for SUBC USA LLC. In the current role, he will play an integral part in the strengthening of our internal HSE program, expanding our client base footprint globally, and developing new service opportunities within the market for all departments within SUBC USA LLC.
Gabe is located in Houston, Texas and has lived most of his life abroad primarily in the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Gabe graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from Texas A&M University - College Station. Upon Graduation of his University Gabe began his Oilfield career working in West Africa for Pride International in Chad and Angola working his way up to the Toolpusher position on a deepwater drillship. From 2009 – 2017, Gabe worked as a Rig Manager managing Mid/Deep water rigs for Ensco (Purchase of Pride International) and Ocean Rig. During Gabe's tenure as Rig Manager he was published in Industry Magazines, received internal company awards, and was recognized by different clients for his leadership and safety drive.
Gabe relocated his family to Houston Texas in 2017 where he accepted the position of Vice President of Business development. Gabe brings a unique blend of Drilling Contractor, Operator, and Well Operations Experience to the SUBC USA Team.
Eric accepted the position as Subsea Project Development Manager at SUBC USA, LLC in December 2016. He was promoted to VP Projects in the latter part of 2017. In the current role, he will play an integral part in the expansion and development of SUBC’s Projects Group and BSEE 3rd Party Verification Services.
Eric moved to Houston in 2004 after serving in the United States Marine Corps. He began in Houston with a career in Sales and Finance Management with Wachovia Bank. Ultimately he leveraged his Leadership and Financial Management skills to begin an Oil and Gas career in 2007. He has specialized in Subsea Engineering and Project Management. The Subsea Control companies he has worked for include Oceaneering and Axon Pressure Products. These companies encompassed Atag, Oceaneering and Koomey Control Products. In 2012 Eric started with Transocean as a Subsea Project Engineer. His duties consisted of planning the 5 year Major Out of Service Shipyard Projects globally for the Transocean Offshore Drilling Fleet. He transitioned into the role of Subsea Engineer in late 2014. During this time, he was a team member of the North American SWAT Team utilized to execute between well maintenance in the Gulf of Mexico. Eric was also instrumental in delivering a series of 5 Ram Compact BOP Stacks in an effort to upgrade and standardize the fleet.
Glenn is the Subsea Operations Manager for SUBC USA LLC. In the current role, Glenn will play an integral part in the maintenance and development of our client base for our 3rd Party subsea manpower services department. In addiiton to business development, his focus will be directed to the expansion and continued development of our subsea personnel service team.
Glenn is located in Houston, Texas. Glenn has spent the majority of his career working multiple roles for deepwater drilling contractors such as Transocean and Atwood. As a Sr. Subsea Engineer, Glenn has worked on various types of equipment and multiple control systems over the last 19 years (Cameron, Hydril & Shaffer). As a Subsea Project Engineer, Glenn's job title was Subsea/Well Control Equipment PIC. Glenn's job duties as a project engineer included installation and refurbishment of BOP equipment both surface and subsea. This includes MPD Systems, Well Intervention equipment, Tensioners (both wired and N-line) compensators, C&K systems, HPU’s, Diverter systems and controls (both MUX and Conventional). All these project scopes included compliance, inspection, daily reporting, procurement, budgeting, creating work scopes, creating procedures, creating job safety analysis, management of change and execution and commissioning.
Glenn accepted the role of Subsea Operaitons Manager in February 2018. Glenn brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the SUBC USA Team, and we're very happy to have him as a member of SUBC's management team.
Ahmed accepted the position as Lead Mechanical Engineer (Well Control Equipment) at SUBC USA LLC in February 2018. In the current role, Ahmed will play an integral part in the expansion and development of SUBC’s BSEE 3rd Party Inspection and Verification Services.
Ahmed started his Oil and Gas career as assistant barge master offshore Egypt with Transocean in early 2007 after completing his mechanical engineering degree program. He joined Transocean’s engineering team in late 2008 as a mechanical design engineer supporting worldwide rig fleet upgrade and repair projects. He was transferred to Transocean HQ to join the corporate subsea engineering team in 2011 where he was assigned to perform shearing calculations and accumulators sizing for the majority of Transocean’s rig fleet. Ahmed worked on multiple mid-size subsea upgrade projects until he was selected to be one of the new build subsea group to support the construction of eight drill-ships as a senior subsea engineer in 2014. His duties consisted of reviewing and approving subsea equipment design, and calculations while supervising the BOP stack building and factory acceptance tests for Cameron and NOV equipment as well as coordinating the subsea systems construction process with major shipyards in Korea and Singapore. Ahmed holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering science from Lamar University. He is a licensed professional engineer (PE) in the state of Texas, Certified fluid power hydraulic specialist (CFPHS) and a project management professional (PMP).
